Moving to a New City after your Marriage: Relocation tips for new couple!

In our culture people move to a new city soon after they get married to start their new life for a better opportunity or due to any other important reasons. We understand this will be very difficult for you to leave something behind them and go to a new location.

Generally it’s not very easy to start a new life with a new person in a new location, without knowing any things about the new city or location. It is hard to accept to new things easily in your life but one can do all these things very easily if they know a few things about the new location. So that you will not be dependent on your spouse for the small things. 

Search for a new accommodation and don’t forget to change your old address

When you have a relocating plans to any city or town after your new beginning of life, it is very good to start searching for a new sweet home at your new city, at least two or three months before the day of your marriage. Try to search for a spacious home or a flat on a apartment with all basic needs and facilities. The rooms at your new house should be very comfortable for you both of you and your households items so that you can occupy peacefully without any trouble in your day to day life..

Before moving to your new place, do not forget to change your old address at your postal communication to direct all your future mails to your new address. You can check or do this by sending an mail by mentioning your new address and sharing it with your friends and relatives. It’s also important to intimate your new address and contact information to your banks, ration card department, credit card department, electricity office etc.

Make a proper Plan

It is always important to do a walkthrough of your neighborhood and new surroundings when it is completely vacant. So before shifting your goods or setting your old furniture take a look around your area and adjustment at your new house. You need to though check little things before shifting to a new house:

You should check whether all requested and agreed repairs have been made by the last owner. You need to check everything that is included in the sale agreement is present in the house. You need to cross check everything is in working order, including outlets, switches, plugs, doorbell and fixtures.

After checking all the things, if you find any issue which is against the sale contract then you need to immediately call the owner and you need to specify the issue. If the issue is not covered under the agreement then it is your responsibility to solve the issue.

Set up a Proper Security Arrangement 

Safety is an important factor which we have considered before shifting to a new house. It is an important factor to feel safe in your new home or where you stay.  Everyone does different things whenever they shift to a new house like some people change locks so that earlier residents don’t have access, installing motion detectors or cctv cameras, using a smart doorbell, or setting up a full-fledged home security system. There are many different types of equipment available these days to help you in purpose of security.

Check Properly What’s Going Where 

You need to manage yourself. It will not only save you time but also you will quickly be able to settle into the new location or house. You should keep the box labeled so that you will be aware which box is having which item and where. In this way you don't have to search into the boxes. While shifting your large and heavy items like furniture you already have a basic idea of what goes in what room, before shifting into a new house you need to think about exactly how you will like to set up your new house. But you can later make changes these way things get easier.

Check the Fuse Box and Water Valve

Before shifting home you need to check the fuse box and water valve, these are two important things which you cannot ignore.  When they are required you don’t want to end up looking for them. It is advisable to identify their positions so that when the power cut or when you need to turn off the water supply for some reason you will immediately be able to make your way there directly. Practically your fuse box will be in your basement, garage, or a storage room or parking area and your home’s water valve located somewhere around the perimeter of your house or on the roof.

Make new Friends 

Friends are an important part of our life and they will make our life happy and easy. Try to make new friends in the neighborhoods, so that they will help you in settling and so that you can handout. Also you need to maintain the relationship with your old friends by scheduling phone calls, video calls, or other social media sites etc. Make new friends and try to keep the old friends happy and keep in touch with them.
