  • Now the most important question is “how to prepare plants for the move?”

It is a daunting task to move plants from one climate to another. But the process of preparing your plants for the move should begin at least three weeks before the moving day. It is very important to remove the dried, dead or dying limbs to prevent any kind of uncontrolled breakage in transit.

  •           Three weeks before the moving day – plastic pots are more durable when it comes to moving. Re-pot your plants from clay pots to the plastic pots. But make sure the size is same, otherwise the plant will take even more time to adapt.
  •          Two weeks before the moving day – take sharp scissors or gardening shears to remove the dead leaves, flowers and limbs then prune the larger plants by pinching the new growth with the help of your thumb and forefinger.
  •           One week before the moving day – check your plants in a proper way because if they have any kind of insects or parasites. You will have to apply insecticides and pesticides and label it properly so that everyone handles it with caution. Insecticides and pesticides are considered to be non-allowable items so it is important to dispose them before you move out of your current house. 7 days of time is enough to get rid of insects and pests from your dear plants.
  •          Two days before the moving day – Make sure you don’t over water them for the sake of taking extra care. Water them normally as you have been doing. If you are moving in warm weather conditions then overwatering can cause fungus growth and freeze in cold weather.
  • How to transport your plants from one place to another?

There are a many ways to simply get your plants from one place to another, but bear in mind that plants are living organisms and need proper care. If you can’t ensure your plant will even survive the move, then there is no point of doing so many things in order to make it reach safely.

It would be the best option if you drive yourself and take your plants in your own car so that you have space for them. Take it along if it is possible to be kept on the passenger’s seat. If you don’t have any option like that then make sure there is no danger of being crushed of squashed by things that are kept along with it.

  • How to make your plant adjust the new environment?

Consistency is the most important thing that keeps your plants alive. Every plant has its own set of needs to remain alive for longer years. If you are moving from a warm climate to a colder one or from a cold climate to a warmer one then it is going to be challenging for sure.

Be it any plant it has to go through a lot of struggle with the climate change. During a house move, a lot of things change. The house changes, surroundings change, weather changes but the plants remain the same.

Your plants should be the first thing that should get your attention after reaching your new place and unloading everything safely in the house. if you have any place in the house that is similar to the old once then try to place them in that area and let them sit for a while. They are living things are they also just went through the stress of a move, so you don’t need to force them to adapt the changes as soon as possible.

If you have covered them with a paper cone than make sure you remove it but there should not be any hurry to put them into the new pots. It can be done later once they have entirely adapted the environment.
